Fear VS. You: Who Wins? (hint: You)

So this past Wednesday night in CATALYST, we had a really good discussion about how to conquer fears. Whether its ultimately fear of failure or inadequacy, we all experience this feeling that can nag at our emotions if we let it. I’m writing this blog because I have been thinking about this discussion ever since last week, and I’ve already had a few occasions in the past few days that have presented me with the option to freak out… out of fear of course.

When we were created, God didn’t create us to be fearful & shameful beings; He created us to live a life pleasing to Him, which definitely doesn’t mean letting fear rule us. We should rule IT. He created each and every single human being with the strength and ability to conquer obstacles that come and go in this journey called life. It’s tempting at times to “throw in the towel” and give in, but we were created for so much more than that. God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but rather a spirit of power, love, and a strong mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

So in case you didn’t already know, God is totally on your side. He’s got your back, doods and doodettes. I think its pretty awesome that we can have the comfort in knowing there is ALWAYS someone there, watching over us & cheering us on to succeed. So the next time fear starts to creep in, beat it down! Beat it down with a big Bible! haha. But in all seriousness, tell fear who’s in charge: YOU! Like I’ve heard it said in church before, don’t tell God about your circumstances, instead tell your circumstances about God! If He knows how many hairs are on your head and how many freckles are on your face, how could He not be paying attention to everything else going on in your life?

We are His children, and He loves us beyond what we can humanly comprehend.
